Desktop Publishing
programs allow you to import text and graphics and manipulate
them on the page
to create interesting layouts. DTP software, like Adobe PageMaker or
Quark Express, is used by many publishing companies to layout the newspapers
or magazines that you read.
DTP software has
more powerful editing features than word processors. However, as word
processors become more powerful, many of these features are becoming
available. Two of the extra features available in a DTP package are:
- you can easily
arrange text into several columns, as you see in newspapers.
Multimedia |
| Multimedia is
the presentation of information by a computer system using
graphics, animation, sound and text. The data may be stored
in a variety of ways using conventional computer storage
devices, together with a picture database on CD-ROM. Output
might be through VDUs, sound-generators and laser projectors. |
 |
When you allow
the viewer of a multimedia presentation, control of when
and which elements are delivered, it is called interactive
multimedia. Providing a series of linked elements
through which the user can navigate is known as hypermedia. |
