Task 39 – Create, Capture, Find Multimedia Elements

A.M.D.G.

All the elements of your presentation will have to be created, captured, or found from some other source. All of these items will need to be readily available for importing into the presentation/authoring package. One simple way of doing this is to create a new folder/directory for your presentation, and within this create 4 other folders/directories, one each for text, graphics, video and sound. Store each element you create in the correct folder/directory and this should make locating all the elements very easy.

Throughout this course, the copyright of other peoples materials has been emphasised. You must not use copyright materials. For example, if you wanted to create a presentation on your favourite pop group. You might scan in a picture from a programme you bought at a concert, capture a bit of a song from their latest compact disc, and take in song lyrics from a music book. This is going to be easy and fun. Unfortunately, it is also going to be illegal. All of those items are copyright and cannot be used without the permission of the copyright holder and they will normally charge you for this.

It is safer to create your own multimedia items, or use items which are copyright free.
