Task 10 - Macromedia Freehand

A.M.D.G.

For vector graphics we will use Macromedia Freehand, part of the Studio MX suite of programs. Freehand is a professional level vector graphics package and we will only use a fraction of the tools and options available.

The main tools in Freehand relate to the creation and manipulation of objects.

The objects can be manipulated individually.

That is why vector graphics are sometimes called object-oriented graphics.

The various properties of each object can be changed, line thickness, line colour, fill colour etc.

Vector graphics are ideal for creating documents that require exact dimensions or sizes e.g. blueprints or plans.

Vector graphics are not so good at dealing with irregular shapes or altering individual pixels on a page.

  • Experiment with Freehand's tools, try and create a 3 dimensional diagram.
