Module 3.1 - General Purpose Packages

General Purpose Packages are the most commonly used applications in modern computing. Students will examine advanced techniques in word processing and spreadsheets.

Module 3.2 - Networks

A study of the technologies and terminology associated with the many uses of computer networks.

Module 3.3 - Programming I

An introduction to the techniques involved in producing a computer program to solve a problem. Using Visual Basic .Net students will develop Windows applications. The types of translator program shall also be examined.

Module 3.4 - Low Level Technology

In this module, students will study the operation of the computer at a very low level. They will examine types of operating and filing systems, be able to define the structure of the CPU and understand how data is represented in the computer system.

Module 3.5 - Systems In Industry

Computerised systems are used extensively in modern industry. Areas of study include: robotics, automated systems, computer aided design and expert systems.

Module 3.6 - Programming II

More advanced programming structures will be covered in this module. Loops and decisions will be studied and implemented by students.
