Module
1.1 – Introductory ICT
Students will learn the operation of the ICT network to log on, send
and receive emails, search on the Internet and access available resources
on the ICT Intranet. Students will use a word processing program to
format text.
Module
1.2 – Spreadsheets
Students will
first learn the fundamentals of using spreadsheets to analyse problems.
They will perform calculations using simple, arithmetic formulae,
replicate formulae, alter cell attributes and produce charts.
Module
1.3 – Computer Systems
A study of the
low level operation of a computer system and the use of binary to
represent text, graphics and numbers.
Module
1.4 – Kar2ouche
Kar2ouche is
a multimedia authoring environment. In this module, students will
plan and implement a multimedia storyboard, selecting settings, props
and characters, adding written and spoken dialog and printing a completed
summary in comic book fashion.
Module
1.5 – Computer Communication
Students will
work collaboratively to research and complete a computing based project.
Working in small groups, this unit will involve the use of email and
class-based online chat.
Module
1.6 – Computer Graphics
Students will
learn the fundamentals of vector, bitmap and animation graphics. In
Freehand, pupils will use simple geometric shapes to create 2D and
3D plans. In Fireworks, pupils will create and manipulate original
images, scanned images and pictures from digital cameras. In Flash,
pupils will create animations utilising motion and shape tweening.
Module
1.7 – Analysing and Presenting Information
Students will
search for statistical information from a variety of sources. In a
spreadsheets program students will perform calculations upon this
data and present data in a graphical format. Finally they will use
a presentation graphics program to produce a structured, multimedia
presentation on their conclusions.
