There are
many ways to obtain computer graphics for use in your computer system.
- You can draw
pictures using your mouse.
- You can use
a graphics tablet to draw pictures directly
- You can download
images from the Internet.
- You can obtain
Clip Art images from CDs or from some software packages.
- You can take
pictures with a digital camera.
- You can scan
images with a scanner.
There are advantages
and disadvantages of each method.
Answer the
following questions in your jotter.
- Why do fine
artists still paint in oil, acrylic and watercolour when there are
so many ways of producing computer graphics?
- Why can you
not just download and use any picture you find on the Internet?
- Why do graphic
artists dislike using a mouse for producing new drawings?
- Why is the UNDO
facility useful when creating computer graphics?
- Visit www.amazon.co.uk,
search for an advert for a graphics tablet. Do the following:
- (a) Write the
make and model of the graphics tablet.
(b) Write the price of the graphics tablet.
(c) Sketch, name and describe the main parts of the tablet.
(d) Describe the advantages of the tablet for freehand drawing.
- Describe how
you would insert a clip art picture into a Microsoft Word document.
- What is a limitation
of using clip art?
