Spreadsheet programs allow you to store numbers and perform calculations upon those numbers.

A spreadsheet is made up of cells arranged in numbered rows and lettered columns.

A cell can contain text, numbers and formulae.

Formulae can add (+), subtract (-) , multiply (*) and divide (/).

All formulae must start with an equals sign.

Numbers can be displayed as amounts of currency, percentages.

You can alter the number of decimal places.

The SUM function adds up a series of numbers in a row or column.

You can format cells and cell contents in a similar way to word processing programs.

You can fill down formula and the spreadsheet program automatically changes the formula for the appropriate row and column.

You can produce charts using spreadsheet data, bar and pie charts are the most commonly used.
